Chapter 17

Mammoth

The last couple of months since we agreed to the rouse of getting onboard with Bullet and the El Perros partnership hasn’t been easy. First, we had to make it look like we had come about the knowledge of Bullets’ deception purely by accident. Going ape-shit on his ass for disrespecting the club members was easy, because we’re still fucking seething about it. But after the heat had dispersed, we then had to convince Pops that we’d had a change of heart. Admitting that drugs and pussy weren’t bringing in enough dollar and with very few options left we were now onboard and willing to take our place by his side.

While this was all in motion, we had brought Gearhead and Mac in on what was due to go down. Once we knew we could rely on them, we then approached Masher, Buzz and JB. It was a risk that could have blown up in our faces, but it was blatantly clear that none of them were happy with Bullet’s behaviour and felt that he had as good as stabbed them in the back. Until then, they had been completely clueless of his deceit and were under the impression that our president had adhered to the vote.

Next up was Toothpick, who had now been voted in and was wearing the YOMC colors with pride. We decided we would put him and JB on the task of manipulating the views of the prospectors, giving them enough titbits of information to influence them into coming to their own conclusion on the morals of their president. That being that he can’t be trusted, and he’s a complete and utter bastard.

Today I’d caught a break and come down into town in the van to grab some supplies. Usually, we leave it up to the prospectors to sort this shit out, but I needed a breather from all the pretence and drama. JB is riding shotgun and thankfully is more interested in fixing his already perfectly coiffed hair than talking about club stuff.

Sticks and Bricks by A Day to Remember is blaring out through the speakers, killing any chance of unwelcome chatter and diminishing any lingering thoughts that might build and overtake my brain.

I pulled up in front of the liquor store that’s a few hundred yards from the grocery store, seeing as we needed to visit both.

“JB,” I shout, getting his attention away from the mirror. Shutting off the music, I pass him the list that Ratchet had made up. It’s a while since we’ve restocked on food, bathroom and household shit so it’s nearly a foot long.

“Jesus,” he grunts as his eyes run down the list of items. “Fucking tampons!” What is first a look of revulsion soon turns into a cocky smirk. “Yeah, where all the ladies will hang out.” JB nods his head a few times, before flicking open the door and jumping out onto the asphalt.

“Fuck me,” I huff, running my hand down my face. “Don’t be praying on jailbait, asshole.
